We have three main Church of England churches nearby. They are all open for Sunday Morning worship and would love to welcome people from Drakelow to join them.

The nearest church is the parish church of Immanuel in Stapenhill, which is also used for our parish meetings, and you will find this church in Hawthorn Crescent in Stapenhill. This church is part of the benefice comprising St Wystan’s church in Bretby and St Mark’s church in Winshill. This church offers modern worship in a ‘new church’ environment.

Another church is in Walton upon Trent which is part of the benefice covering Walton, Rosliston, Coton, Linton and Netherseale and has a more rural character. The church is located near the Walton old bridge on Station Road.

The third church is also in Stapenhill and is St Peters church which offers a conservative evangelical theology. This church is adjacent to the roundabout by the new Burton Bridge.

All of the churches are open for weddings, baptisms and funerals and to arrange a booking for any of these please contact the relevant priest in charge.

Immanuel Church – Stapenhill.

The Church meets for worship every Sunday at 11am and following the retirement of its associate priest, Rev Frank Startin, now has a variety of ministers. Communion services, which take place on the 1st and 3rd Sundays, are led by either the incumbent of the overall benefice, Rev. Philip Bosher, or by local retired priests. On the 2nd Sunday of each month there is a traditional service of Morning Prayer which is led by a Reader (very occasionally you will find the clerk to the Drakelow Parish Meeting undertaking the role) and on the 4th and 5th Sundays there is a service for the whole family, an all age service.

Coffee and biscuits are served after the service and all are welcome to partake in that.

The church hosts Rainbows and Guides on Tuesday evenings and Brownies on Thursday evenings. On Wednesday there is a Slimmers World group and on Monday mornings the Women’s Institute holds its regular meetings. On Fridays there is the popular Tea and Tots group.

The Church Hall is also available to hire by local groups.
